Visit of Director of the Postgraduate Program at the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo, Japan

The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, had the distinct honor of welcoming Prof. Mitsuo Yamamoto, Professor and Director of the Postgraduate Program at the Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo, and former Vice-Chancellor of University of Colombo Prof. H.D. Karunarathna, Senior Professor of Business Economics on 21st August 2026.

The primary focus of this distinguished visit was to explore and strengthen avenues for academic cooperation between the Faculty of Agriculture and The University of Tokyo. The high-level discussion was attended by Prof. Barana Jayawardane, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, along with over twenty senior academics from the Faculty.

In addition to the collaborative discussions, the visit featured an informative seminar tailored for recent

graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture. This session provided the graduates with valuable insights and expert guidance regarding prospective postgraduate study opportunities available at The University of Tokyo.
